About The Instructors

Sensei Lauren

Sensei Lauren Cronin has been training from the age of eleven, gaining her 1st dan black belt at the age of 15 in 2003, and has since trained on to take her 2nd dan in 2006, 3rd dan in 2011 and was most recently awarded her 4th dan black belt in 2017.

Sensei Lauren has competed in many different competitions, competing in semi contact and continuous fighting as well as full contact and freeforms. Achievements include:

  • First place in the girls continuous national championships
  • First places in ladies continuous national championships
  • First places in ladies semi contact national championships
  • 4th Dan Black Belt
  • ECKA Forms National Champion
  • ECKA Class ‘C’ Referee

Sensei Lauren is first aid qualified, DBS checked and an WAKO qualified instructor.

Sensei Josh

Sensei Josh Collins has been training with the English Contact Karate Association since 2013, achieving his 1st dan black belt with the association in 2018. Sensei Josh has been instructing at the club since then and regularly competes in points, continuous and forms.  He is also progressing into refereeing and is the club’s Head of IT. 

Sensei Josh is also first aid qualified, DBS checked and a WAKO qualified instructor.

Sensei Shauna

Sensei Shauna Boland-Rhodes has been training under Sensei Laure since 2015 and achieved her 1st dan black belt with the ECKA in 2021. Sensei Shauna has been assisting within the club leading up to her black belt and is known for having a great hip throw and being a very confident fighter.  Sensei Shauna is also in charge of the club’s social media posts and marketing.

Sensei Shauna is also DBS checked and a WAKO insured instructor.

Sensei Tesh

Sensei Tesh Panikker first started training with his son in 2011 and was one of the club’s first adult members.  Sensei Tesh passed his 1st dan black belt with the association in 2021. Sensei Tesh is an enthusiastic instructor within in the club and is the club’s longest serving member!
